Kenneth L. Nutt

FAIRMONT -- A memorial service for Kenneth L. Nutt, age 81, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont, with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Inurnment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday at the Lakeview Funeral Home.

Ken passed away Monday evening, Oct. 31, 2022, at the Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kenneth LaVerne Nutt was born March 28, 1941, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of LaVerne and Luella (Hilpipre) Nutt. Ken attended Fairmont public schools and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1959. Ken enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September of 1960. After completing his basic training in San Antonio, Texas, he was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan for two years. Ken was then stationed at Rhein Main Air Force Base in Germany for 15 months before earning his honorable discharge in June of 1964.

After returning from the service, Ken furthered his education at Mankato State University where he graduated in 1967. After college, Ken lived in Wausau, Wis., and Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Minneapolis, Minn., where he worked as an auditor in the private

sector as well as for the State of Minnesota. He worked out of the main office but also spent a lot of time traveling to various locations in numerous midwestern states as well as all of Minnesota. Ken retired in 2003 due to poor health. In 2004, Ken moved back to his hometown of Fairmont where he was a member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36. He enjoyed going to Las Vegas as well as visiting local casinos. Before his illness, he played golf and bowling along with gathering with friends and relatives for visits. Ken also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings and going to various types of restaurants.

Left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Jeanette Howard of Fairmont, Minn., James Nutt of Central City, Neb., Kay (Paul) Busch of New Prague, Minn., and Robert Nutt of

Tucson, Ariz.; 8 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, LaVerne and Luella Nutt, Ken was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Linda Nutt, and Zada Nutt; brother-in-law, Curt

Howard; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
