Clare Y. Lidke

FAIRMONT -- A memorial service for Clare Y. Lidke, age 84, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. A private family burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Clare passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at her home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Clare Yvonne (Thompson) Lidke was born Dec. 1, 1937, to Melvin and Carmen (Barker) Thompson in Mason City, Iowa. She attended school in Granada and Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1955. On June 7, 1958, Clare was united in marriage to Allan Lidke at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Allan and Clare made their home in Fairmont. Clare’s work history was varied and included working for Al Zeitz, Miller's Fashions, Krahmer & Bishop, Professional Tax Advisors, Rolling Green Fairways and Unique Cleaners. Clare was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont where she served on a number of boards and committees. She was also very involved in the community and served on many boards, often in leadership roles for the Martin County Council of Church Women, Women's Board of Interlaken Golf Club, P.E.O. Chapter Y where she was a 50-year member, Chain of Lakes Halfway House, Lakeview Methodist Home, Kinship mentor, Human Services Advisory Committee and was a foster parent for the court system. Clare enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and bingo. Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Diane (Terry) Johnson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Christine (David) Gustafson of Houston, Minn., and Kate (Marshall) Pauly of Ankeny, Iowa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Peter (Megan) Johnson and their children, Micah and Joah, Tommy (Erin) Johnson all of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ellen (Luke) Range of Houston, Minn., Brenna Gustafson of Minneapolis, Minn., Nick Pauly and Allie Pauly both of Ankeny, Iowa; sister, Nina Martinson of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; brother, David (Olivia) Hytry of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Her memory will also be cherished by many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Lidke; parents, Melvin Thompson and Carmen Cecil; brother, Terry Thompson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eloise and Harlan Lidke; and brother-in-law, Robert Martinson.
