Rodney J. Haeckel

FAIRMONT -- A celebration of life visitation for Rodney "Rod" J. Haeckel, age 71, of Fairmont, Minn., will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2020, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. A private family graveside service will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Rod passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 1, 2022, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, with family at his bedside. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rodney John Haeckel was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of John and Velma (Weydert) Haeckel. Rod attended St. John Vianney School and later graduated from Fairmont High School in 1970. Rod was united in marriage to Beverly Russ in May of 1973, in Fairmont. The couple resided in Fairmont and were blessed with two children, Jessica and Justin. Rod worked for various plumbing and heating businesses throughout his career. The majority of that time was spent with Felber Plumbing and Heating for 25 years before his retirement in 2013. Rod was a member of the Fairmont Bass Seekers, Let's Go Fishing, and the Martin County Conservation Club. He enjoyed spending a lot of time in the great outdoors, whether maintaining the family acreage or enjoying his favorite hobbies of

hunting and fishing. Rod just loved being out in nature. He took part in many bass tournaments professionally as well as with the local Bass Seekers Club. Rod spent many a fall season hunting pheasants with his hunting partner, Tasha, as well as deer hunting with friends and family. The most important thing to Rod was his family and he was especially proud of sharing his knowledge of fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beverly Haeckel of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter,

Jessica (Rod) Annis of Chanhassen, Minn.; son, Justin (Lauren) Haeckel of Big Lake, Minn.; grandchildren, Sam and Will Annis, River,Isla and Luella Haeckel; brothers, Gary (Grace) Haeckel of Fairmont, and Jim (Linda) Haeckel of Puyallup, Wash.; brother-in-law, Brian

(Pam) Russ; sisters-in-law, Barb Russ (Neil Glazman), and Bonnie Russ; stepbrother-in-law, Roger (Teresa) Starkey of Peoria, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, John and Velma Haeckel, Rod was

preceded in death by his stepmother, Donna Haeckel; stepsister, Carole Ivey; stepbrother-in-law, Randy Ivey; and parents-in-law, Herb and June Russ.
