Roger Spiegeler

ARMSTRONG -- Roger Herman Spiegeler passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at home, surrounded by family after a courageous five-year battle against leukemia. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at United Methodist Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with Pastor Lyn Roesler as Officiant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the church. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont, Minn.

Roger was born May 10, 1973, in Fairmont, Minn., to Virgil and Linda (Janssen) Spiegeler. Roger grew up in Fairmont, and later moved to Trimont, Minn., where he graduated from Martin County West in 1992. In 1996, he moved to Ceylon, Minn. and married Nicole

Friesner in February of 1999. In this marriage they had their two daughters, Bailey and Taylor. During this time Roger worked at Glasstite. In 2007, he began working at GKN where he met the love of his life, Kim Marlin. They married on Oct. 12, 2013, at their home in Ceylon. Roger was diagnosed with leukemia in 2017 which ended his career at GKN. In 2019, Roger and Kim moved to their forever home in Armstrong, Iowa. Through his education at Iowa Lakes Community College, Roger learned many aspects of construction

which became one of his many passions and hobbies. He also enjoyed a wide variety of activities including: painting, playing softball, fishing, camping, doing yard work, woodworking, and golfing. Roger painted murals of family and country artists as well as abstract pieces such as eyes. He spent many summers playing slowpitch softball where he met many of his closest friends. Some of his favorite times fishing were during the summer of 2009 where he fished almost every single day with his family. In his last few years,

Roger spent his summers camping with family and softball friends. Roger took pride in his yard ensuring it looked nice and updated with beautiful flowers and rocks. He spent many hours in his last few years creating cribbage boards to give to family and friends. After

moving to the golf course, Roger spent multiple hours learning and enjoying golf with his family. The most important thing to Roger was family and friends. He will be remembered as the man who loved to have a good time and be the life of the party.

Roger is survived by his wife, Kim Spiegeler; stepfather, Dennis Hoppe; parents-in-law, Earl and Linda Fothergill; daughters, Bailey and Taylor Spiegeler; stepchildren, Tanner (Emilie Keeker-Zirbel) Zirbel, Jenna Zirbel, Tyson Zirbel, and Kenzie Marlin; grandson, Kai Marlin; sister, Melanie (Eric) Muller; stepbrother, Todd Hoppe; brothers-in-law, Kurt (Lydia) Fothergill, and Kevin (Angi King) Fothergill; sister-in-law, Krista (Matt Johnson) Fothergill; nephew, Dylan Muller; nieces, Ashley and Emily Muller; as well as many other nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Dazie and Alex. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Virgil; both sets of grandparents; and stepsister, Wanita

Hoppe.

The family is requesting attendees to wear Hawaiian, Minnesota Vikings, or orange clothes in honor of Roger's battle with leukemia. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Happy Hoofers Relay for Life in Ringsted, Iowa in memory of Roger. Online condolences
