FAIRMONT -- A funeral service for Dorothy C. Laue, 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wilbert, Minn. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Dorothy passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at Ingleside Assisted Living in Fairmont, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy Clara (Zemple) Laue was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Wilbur Weidenbach and Lydia Zemple. She was baptized Oct. 14, 1928, and confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Dorothy received her education attending Fairmont public school and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1947. Following her graduation, Dorothy began working at Stokely Van Camp in Fairmont. On May 11, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lorvin Henry Laue at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Together, the couple made their home on the family farm in Silver Lake Township and were blessed with two sons, Allen and Gerald.
Dorothy loved life on the farm and took great pride in being a homemaker. She looked forward to visits from friends and was known for her fabulous cooking. Dorothy had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to the many flowers and large garden on the farm. Her quiet time was spent working on sewing projects and embroidery. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Allen Laue of Fairmont, Minn., and Gerald Laue and special friend, Debra Leuck, of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Erma Laue of Fairmont; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Lydia; husband, Lorvin Laue; infant son, Larry Lorvin Laue; brother, Albien Zemple; brothers-in-law, Arlen Maschoff, Roy Fisher, Werner Laue, and Erwin Schultze; sisters-in-law, Alice Fisher, Elna Schultze, and Lorena Maschoff.
