FAIRMONT -- Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Rieland, age 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Fairmont.
Mary Ann passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2022, at her home in Fairmont. Memorials are preferred to the SJV Endowment Fund. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Ann was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Sauk Centre, Minn., to Ben and Barbara (Zenzius) Minette. Growing up she attended school in Sauk Centre and was a member of the 1949 graduating class. On Nov. 30, 1950, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Ronald Rieland at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. This union was blessed with six children: Diane, Debra, Duane, DeDe, Darwin and Daniel. Mary Ann and Ron made their home in Fairmont, and in September of 1970, they opened Fairmont Glass and Sign. Mary Ann was a faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was an avid golfer, having memberships at Interlaken Golf Club and Desert Sands Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. She had a keen eye for interior designing and loved flowers, especially deep red roses. In her spare time, she liked to travel and especially loved shaking dice. Mary Ann wintered in Arizona for over 45 years. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Diane (Mike) Anderson, Debra (Bruce) Nicholas, Duane (Jan) Rieland, DeDe (Mark) Kotewa, and Darwin (Maria) Rieland; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Brandle; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Ben and Barbara Minette, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; and husband, Ron Rieland.
