Gracie Mae (Anderson) Tenney was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rachel (Springer) Anderson. She attended various country schools and attended East Chain School from sixth grade on. She graduated from the East Chain class of 1959 as Valedictorian. On Sept. 4, 1960, Gracie was united in marriage to Robert L. Tenney at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, Minn. The couple moved to Killeen, Texas for a year before returning to Fairmont and finally making their home on Gracie's family farm near Fairmont. Gracie was a wonderful caregiver, taking care of several loved ones in their time of need. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she took pride in caring for her home. Gracie was an avid gardener, canning and sharing produce from her bountiful garden. She was an accomplished cook, and friends and family loved visits when they walked in and smelled the scents of fresh baked goods coming from the kitchen. Gracie was also an excellent seamstress, making items with great love and care. She did not let her arthritic hands keep her from sewing cherished items such as wedding dresses and baby quilts. Faith was extremely important to Gracie. She was a member of the East Chain United Methodist Church where she served as a bible school, Sunday school and confirmation teacher for many years. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women's Group and Rose Lake Thimble Club. When not tending to her garden, canning, or whipping up a baked goodie, Gracie could be found watching the Minnesota Twins or listening to her favorite Elvis tune. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert Tenney; daughter, Twlya (Robert) Morgan; son, Duane Tenney; and daughter, Diane (James) Wiese; grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Ethan, and Rachel Tenney, Jonathan, and Adam Wiese; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Brian) Blanchard and Kathy (Kenneth) Tenney; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rachel (Grace) Anderson; infant brother, Jonny Anderson; stepsister, Laurel Jean; sisters-in-law, Shirley Klinkner and Carol Tenney; brothers-in-law, Darrell Tenney, Lyle Tenney, and Arnold Klinkner. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
