MONTICELLO -- Lowell Williamson of Monticello, Minn., formerly of Truman, Minn., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn., at the age of 83. A memorial service for him will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman with Rebecca Sullivan officiating. A visitation gathering will be one hour prior. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the church of your choice or the American Diabetes Association.
Lowell Duane Williamson was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Waverly Township to George and Mamie (Garbers) Williamson. He was baptized in January of 1940 at Waverly Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. He grew up in Truman and was a member of the Truman High School class of 1957. He went on to attend Luther College in hopes of becoming a pastor, after running out of money and struggling with the Latin curriculum, he returned to Truman after 2 years. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1969. Lowell was an active member of the American Legion for over 50 years. During his service, he married Janice Carlson in 1965 and they raised their six children in Truman. Lowell was a banker for 30 years and was proud of his community. He served as Mayor from 1973 until 1978. His faith was his strength and his family, (immediate and extended) was his anchor in life. He will be remembered for his kindness and love for all Minnesota sports teams. Lowell will be greatly missed by his wife, Janice Williamson; children, Mark (Lynn) Williamson, Tracy (Al) Ratike, Kent Williamson, Derek Williamson, and Brook (Julie) Williamson; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Darmer and Joyce Ysker; godson, Kirk Ysker; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Heather Williamson; sister, Lois (Reinhold) Daberkow; brother, Veryle (Joan) Williamson; brothers-in-law, Alfred Darmer and Dennis Ysker; and nephews, Keith Darmer and Bryan Ysker.
