ALPHA -- Carol was welcomed by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 10 days. Mass of Christian Burial for her will be held 10:30 a.m. today, Sept. 16, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Following the service, burial will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Jackson, Minn.

Carol Jean Zebedee was born Saturday, Jan. 1, 1938, in Jackson, Minn., daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Schluter) Ullrich. Carol attended Petersburg School during the earlier grades and graduated from Jackson High School in 1956. On June 7, 1956, Carol was united in marriage to Donald Zebedee at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson. They made the transition from Petersburg Township over to Wisconsin Township where they lived in their forever home. Carol and Don were blessed with four children: Mike, Tom, Brian, and Renee. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, where she cooked, helped serve meals for funerals, was in the prayer chain, and also tried her hand as a catechism instructor. Carol was a stay-at-home mother until the children were all grown and left home. She then worked with her best friend, Judy Ascheman, wallpapering and painting for several years until her health began to make it difficult for her to continue. In April of 2021, Carol moved into the Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn. Carol had a heart of gold. She was a very good housekeeper, housewife, and mother to her children. She always knew where the children and Don were, and this was before cell phones. Carol loved to cook, always having something for the kids to eat when they got home from school, when Don came in from doing farm work, or for company that may stop by. Her apple butter was a favorite of the family. Carol had many gorgeous flowers on the farm, and a large garden that she spent many hours maintaining. In the fall, Carol was busy canning the produce from her garden. She liked to go out and fill the bird feeders making sure they had enough to eat. Carol enjoyed decorating for the different seasons. In the later years, Carol loved to go shopping, always looking for a great bargain. According to the way that her closets looked, she found a lot of them. She also enjoyed collecting angels and decorating her home with them. Carol loved spending time with her family, cherishing each and every moment they were all together. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Carol. Carol is survived by her husband of 66 years, Don; children, Mike (Carrie) Zebedee of Fairmont, Tom (Annette) Zebedee of Jackson, Brian Zebedee of Windom, and Renee (Jeff) VanWesten of Royal; grandchildren, Nolan (Samantha) Zebedee, Derek Zebedee, Tyler Zebedee, Keira (Scott) McCord, Ryan VanWesten, Morgan Zebedee, and Nicole Zebedee; great-grandchildren, Maddux Zebedee, Charlie McCord, and Levi Zebedee; sister, JoAnn Winther, along with numerous other relatives.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Laura; grandson, Christian VanWesten; sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Deane Garber; brother-in-law, Russell Winther; and niece, Kim Newcome. Blessed be the memory of Carol Jean Zebedee. www.ofh.care
