FAIRMONT -- A celebration of life for Beverly J. Norman, age 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ fellowship hall in Fairmont. Private family inurnment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery.
Beverly passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Woodland Manor in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Beverly Norman was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Rome Township, to Alfred J. and Della C. (Nesheim) Underdahl. She graduated from Frost High School on May 31, 1945. Following business school in Mankato, Bev went to work at Fairmont Railway Motors, where she met her future husband. On Feb. 20, 1949, Bev was united in marriage to William John Norman. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before Bill passed away on Sept. 22, 2019. Beverly and Bill made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with five children: John, Joan, Jerry, Judy and Jim. After working at KSUM radio station for a short time, Bev became a full-time homemaker. She hosted numerous holidays and family gatherings, as spending time with extended family was always a priority for both Bev and Bill. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: John Norman of Fairmont, Minn., Joan Andersen and her husband, Tom of Fairmont, Jerry Norman of Fairmont, Judy Barke and her husband, Jim of Prior Lake, Minn., Jim Norman (Jacquie Marsh) of North Mankato, Minn.; grandchildren: Aric Norman, Elizabeth (Troy Sheppmann) Norman, Jennifer Velaski, Bryan (Sara) Andersen, Cory (Carisa) Andersen, Erin (Sarah) Andersen, Kellen Andersen, Hanna (Creighton) Smith, Meg (Noah Hamann) Barke, and Josh (Amanda) Barke; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Underdahl; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; brothers: Paul (Phyllis) Underdahl and Alfred Underdahl; sisters: Donna (Joe) Eikenberry and Anabelle (Ron) Lea; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold (Alta) Norman, Dick (Alice) Norman, and Joyce (Elmer) Lemke. Memorials are preferred to First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont and UHD Hospice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodland Manor for their special care and friendship.
