SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Douglas Sandersfeld passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Sanford Medical Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. A memorial service will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery. The family invites you to join them following the service at the Safari Lounge in Renner, S.D. to celebrate Doug’s life.
Doug was born Jan. 16, 1949, to Arnold and Adell (Tiny) Sandersfeld and was raised in Welcome, Minn. After Doug graduated from Welcome High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1971. Shortly after, Doug met Cheryl and they married on Nov. 26, 1971. They were married for 49 years and they had a son together in July 1979. Doug spent most of his career working at Krier and Blain and was a very hard worker. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. They spent many years at their camper in Platte, S.D. Doug also enjoyed collecting fishing lures, reading, and meeting his many friends. Doug was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Doug was preceded in death by his wife; Cheryl; parents; and brother, Dale Sandersfeld. He is survived by his son, Paul Sandersfeld; brothers, Dennis (Karen) Sandersfeld, Mike (Marilyn) Sandersfeld; grandchildren, Jade and Rylan Sandersfeld; along with many friends.
