FAIRMONT -- Private family services for Helen B. Van Brunt, 97, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at a later date with burial in Westford Cemetery near Truman, Minn.
Helen passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen Bernice (Olson) Van Brunt was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Minneota Township, rural Jackson County, Minn., the daughter of William and Edna (Larson) Olson. She attended school in Fairmont, Minn. and graduated from Fairmont High School. On May 6, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Corwin "Corky" Van Brunt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together, the couple would make their home on a farm near Truman and were blessed with two children, Reid and Gail. Helen loved life on the farm and took great pride in helping her husband. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and looked forward to winters in Arizona, traveling and camping trips with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Reid Van Brunt and his wife, Barbara of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Aaron (Heather) Van Brunt, Ryan (Shannon) Van Brunt, Nathan (Kim) Van Brunt, Shanda (Troy) Gullick, Kumari (Andy) Van Brunt, Gina (Chad) Heyer, and Shelby Medved; many great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Olson; husband, Corwin Van Brunt; daughter, Gail Van Brunt; as well as other extended family.
