Harold F. Wagner

FAIRMONT -- A funeral service for Harold F. Wagner, age 87, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with military honors provided by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Those wishing to view a live stream of the service may do so at splfairmont.org. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Lakeview Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Harold passed away Thursday evening, July 7, 2022, at Ingleside Assisted Living in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harold Frederick Wagner was born March 10, 1935, in Fairmont, Minn., son of Henry and Esther (Goebel) Wagner. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Wilbert and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Harold graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and after basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he was stationed in France for three years before earning an honorable discharge in 1957. Harold worked for Rollo Crowther on the farm and later did farming work for Robert W. Luedtke. From 1982 to 2015, Harold was self-employed as a farmer. On Nov. 26, 1966, Harold was united in marriage to Avis Magnusson at Alma Lutheran Free Church, rural Argyle, Minn. They lived in rural Granada, Minn. until 1975, when they moved to Silver Lake Township, rural Fairmont. Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, where he served on various boards and committees as well as being active in the Lutheran Laymen's League. Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Avis Wagner; brother, Roland Wagner; sister, Dorothy Sutton and her husband, Chip; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Wagner, Janice Wagner, and Verna Hanson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with his parents, Henry and Esther Wagner, Harold was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Richard, and Daniel Wagner; his sisters, Ruth Wagner in infancy, and Adeline Galchutt; brother-in-law, Rev. Gary Galchutt and sister-in-law, Marlys Wagner; brother-in-law, Marville Magnusson and wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Clarice Visness and husband, Stanley; sister-in-law, Jean Potucek and husband, Kermie; sister-in-law, Arlene Gehrls and husband, Vernon.
