FAIRMONT -- Jerald L. OSell of Fairmont passed away July 7, 2022, of natural causes. He was 86 years old and was surrounded by family in his home at the time of his passing. No services are planned at this time.
Jerald is survived by three children, Patty Scott of Texas, Scott OSell of Fairmont, Minn., and Bruce OSell of Texas; two grandchildren, Jesse and Connor (Emily) OSell and their mother Cindy OSell; five great-grandchildren, (Jesse)-Zachary and Addison and (Connor) Lucy, Elyana, Sophia; brothers, Alfred and Robert (Susie) OSell; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Esther OSell. Jerald was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ellen OSell (Bremer) in May of 2009; brothers, Jon, James and Thomas; and sister-in-law, JoAnn (Alfred).
Jerry graduated from Dolliver, Iowa, where he was raised with his five brothers by Alfred and Frieda (Simon) OSell. His brothers were truly his best friends. He served in the military at the age of 18-20 and was stationed in Germany for much of that time. He married Barbara E. Bremer on Aug. 18, 1957. Jerry and Barbara decided to make a life of farming in 1961 on a small farm south of Fairmont and loved it. They raised their three children there and prospered. Jerry and Barb loved traveling in their truck and camper to various locations-Florida being at the top of the list. They loved metal detecting and the casinos. Jerry will be laid to rest at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Iowa beside Barbara. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice or the Veterans community.
