FAIRMONT -- A memorial service for Phyllis Jeanne Betts, age 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Phyllis passed away two days short of her 93rd birthday on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Phyllis Jeanne (Millard) Betts was born June 25, 1929, in Canby, Minn., the daughter of Philip and Christina Millard. She graduated from Canby High School in 1947 and married Arthur Betts on Sept. 19, 1948, in Canby. The couple and their four children moved to Fairmont in 1957. Phyllis was a seamstress for many years and passed that trait onto her daughters. She was past president and also past treasurer of the Women's Association of the First Congregational Church of Fairmont. She was an avid bridge player and a member of Interlaken Golf Club. Phyllis and Art enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona and many summer trips up north.
Left to cherish her memory include her four children, Barbara (David) Lohmann of Plymouth, Minn., Lynn (Joanne) Betts of Oak Grove, Minn., Connie Lowry of Fairmont, and John (Sharon) Betts of Fairmont; grandchildren, Benjamin (Amanda) Lohmann, Christina (Peregrine Andrews), Crystal (Neil) Hanson, Nick (Jennifer) Lowry, Collin Betts, Courtney (Marcus) Smith, Tucker (Vicky) Betts; great-grandchildren, Theodore Lohmann, Zachary Lohmann, Abigail Lohmann, Macy Hanson, Devin Hanson, Cole Hanson, Amelia Lowry, Everett Lowry, Emersyn Smith, Cale Betts and Emma Scheppmann; sister, Carol Tholkes; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Debbi Betts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents; and siblings, Don, Doris and Archie.
