Maurice Wayne Sonnicksen was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Winnebago, Minn., the son of Avery "Ole" and Bessie (Miller) Sonnicksen. Maurice served in the U.S. Army before his marriage to Joyce Caudle on Feb. 9, 1963. Maurice loved farming and enjoyed working with Hereford cattle and quarter horses through many years. He also enjoyed woodworking but traveling was his favorite hobby, having visited all forty-eight of the lower states and Alaska while camping, as well as touring Hawaii. His years after retirement from farming were busy fixing up and caring for both the home farm and their home in Yuma, Ariz., where he and Joyce spent six months each year. Maurice had a true fascination with fences; from Texas to Canada, and especially through Tennessee. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Joyce Sonnicksen of Fairmont, Minn.; two daughters, Julie Rae Robinson of Wray, Colo., and Jill Marie Olson (Brett) of Chancellor, S.D.; six grandchildren, Cole, Clay (Tracie), and Shauna Robinson, and Seth, Ryan (Caitlyn), and Jaiden Olson; one great-grandson, Isaac Robinson; one great-granddaughter, Hadley Rae Robinson; brother, Norman "Jack" Sonnicksen (Barb) of Plymouth, Minn.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Bessie Sonnicksen, his sister, Eleanor "Annie" Ann Ankeny; and brother-in-law, Gordon Ankeny. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
