Dallas Jerome Wegner

TRUMAN -- Dallas Jerome Wegner, age 76, of Truman, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. A time for visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Truman. Services will be live streamed and available at www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com.

Dallas was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Fairmont, to Mervin and Hildegard (Karau) Wegner. He graduated from Truman High School. On April 8, 1967, Dallas married Patricia Ann Malo. The couple later parted ways, but unto this marriage, three children were born. Dallas worked as a machinist for over 30 years, employed by Fairmont Tamper, previously Railway Motors. He also spent several seasons working on his father's farm. This farm was important to him, and he often brought his children there during their childhood. On July 1, 1989, Dallas was united in marriage to Arlene "AJ" Horstman Lowell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. The couple enjoyed many wonderful years together, and in retirement, many meals at Perkins. Dallas was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in the choir, along with the church board. Dallas enjoyed mowing and caring for his lawn, gambling, and playing games. He was also a lover of food and a gracious host. Dallas was open-minded and fair, always smiling and chatting with others. He loved to talk and was very social. Dallas also had a huge heart, and was a wonderful grandfather. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Arlene; children, Wendy (Roger Vielle) Wegner of Deary, Idaho, Becky Wegner of Lynchburg, Va., Kathy (Anthony) Greve of Lake Crystal, Tom Lowell of La Crosse, Wis., and Sandy (Jim) Smedsrud of Windom; brother, Richard (Jacque) Wegner of Mankato; sisters, Myrna (Marvin) Gag of Mankato, and Vicki (Tom) Hawkes of rural Lewisville; grandchildren, Cassie, Brian, and Andrew Lowell, Austen and Daytona Smedsrud, Nicole and Tyler (Amber) Baerg, and Elijah (Naiya-Marie) and Elizabeth Greve; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Harper Baerg, Nikco Lee, Kaydee Linzie, Amber Bogenreif, Cera and Tobias Lowell; brother-in-law, Bob Hinderschied; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Wegner. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Merlin; sister, Sandra; and infant brother, Donald.
