FAIRMONT -- A memorial service for Faye M. Draper, age 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont, with inurnment in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Faye passed away Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2022, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Faye loved the 4th of July. If you are able to attend her celebration of life, please wear your patriotic colors/4th of July clothes in memory of Faye.
Faye Marie (Peterson) Draper was born March 5, 1930, in Waverly Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Hans and Hannah (Nelson) Peterson. Faye graduated in 1949 from Truman High School. On May 2, 1951, Faye was united in marriage to George Draper at Waverly Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children, Michael, Steven and Julie. The couple resided in Fairmont where Faye was a homemaker as well as helping George in numerous ways operate the family business, Draper Foods. Faye and George shared fifty-nine years together before George passed away on Dec. 12, 2010. Faye was not only a devoted caretaker to her family but was an active member of the community. She delivered Meals on Wheels as well as volunteering at the Fairmont Community Hospital. Faye was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees and the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Auxiliary. She and George loved traveling the countryside in their motor home, these trips usually included some close friends and family, and Faye was the one always looking at the map and choosing the route. She enjoyed bowling with her team, the "Daffodils," going to casinos and spending time on the Fairmont lakes. Faye would rarely miss a Wednesday of playing cards at the golf club. Left to cherish her memory include her children, Steven (Janine) Draper of Fairmont, Julie (Todd) Thedens of East Chain, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Marcia Rooney of Fairmont; grandchildren, Chris (Claire) Draper of Waconia, Minn., Rachel (Brandon) Tonneson of Maple Grove, Minn., Justin (Tara) Thedens of Fairmont, Minn., Jessica (Michael) Salic of Granada, Minn., Adam (Nikki) Thedens of East Chain, Minn., Melissa (Chad) Wieneke of Plymouth, Minn., and Maria (Jared) Klug of Fairmont; great-grandchildren, Christian Draper, Tyson Tonneson, Taylor Tonneson, Oliver Thedens, Nola Thedens, Spencer Salic, Lynsie Salic, Mateo Thedens, Jack Wieneke, Harper Wieneke, Gabrielle Klug and Delaney Klug; brother, Doyle (Arlene) Peterson of Truman, Minn., sister-in-law, Geri Peterson of Truman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Hans and Hannah Peterson, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, George Draper; son, Michael Draper; great-grandson at birth, Cooper Wieneke; five brothers; and four sisters.
