MINNEAPOLIS -- It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy (Tish) Leyh announces her passing from this life into the presence of God to be with family and friends in heaven. We know she is with her Heavenly Father and will experience everlasting joy. She passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, in Tucson, Ariz. A celebration of life service for Nancy will be held 11 a.m. on July 1, at Bethlehem Baptist Church North Campus, 5151 Program Ave. in Mounds View, Minn. Also, the Tish family will host a gathering of family and friends in honor of Nancy from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 2, at Heritage Acres, 501 W. Lake Ave. in Fairmont. It would be Nancy's desire to reunite local friends and her family to fellowship together, so we invite you join us to share your own memories. A light lunch will be served. Afterwards, a burial with family and friends will be at Emmanuel Cemetery, north of Welcome.
Nancy was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Fairmont, Minn., to Marion and Margery (Moore) Tish, the second of seven children. Nancy lived with her family in the towns of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Dolliver, Iowa, Superior, Iowa, and Welcome, Minn. She attended high school in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She moved with her family to the farm north of Welcome, Minn. in 1966 where she graduated from Welcome High School with the class of 1968. She attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston graduating with a degree in home economics. She spent most of her career working for General Mills in the Betty Crocker Test Kitchens in Minneapolis, Minn. She also worked in the Robbinsdale School District as an education assistant.
Nancy was passionate about food preparation and travel. Her love for outdoor adventures and new experiences took her around the world visiting many countries while doing mission work. Her summers were filled with hiking, biking, and church activities both in Arizona and in Minnesota, primarily in the greater Minneapolis area. During the cold Minnesota winters she loved cross-country skiing or anything that would take her outdoors. She was thrilled to meet the love of her life, Wayne Leyh, and they married Aug. 30, 1997, in Minneapolis. Led by the Spirit of God, the two of them dedicated their lives to serving Christ. For the past several years they volunteered their services at the Wycliffe Bible Translators headquarters near their winter home in Tucson. Nancy is survived by her husband, Wayne Leyh; brothers, Dan (Sandie) Tish of Mankato, Minn., Mickey (Laurie) Tish of Bellevue, Wash., Tracy (Tammy) Tish of Denver, Colo., Todd (Becky) Tish of Sherburn, Minn.; sisters, Peggy (Charles) Beitlich of New Ulm, Minn., Barbara (Charles) Poppe of Welcome, Minn., sister-in-law, Judy Mikolich of Osseo, Minn.; along with many friends and relatives. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Margery Tish; niece, Chantal Schultz; father-in-law, Wilbert Leyh; and brother-in-law, Charles Mikolich.
