Philip E. Garrison

FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Philip “Tip” E. Garrison, 81, of Fairmont, Minn., and Edinburg, Texas, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with military honors provided by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Those wishing to watch the livestream of the funeral service on Saturday can do so by going to the church website.

Garrison passed away Friday evening, June 17, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Philip “Tip” Edward Garrison was born Feb. 28, 1941, near Fairmont, Minn., son of the late Arthur and Hattie Garrison. He joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Verdon, France and had the opportunity to travel to many European countries. He was honorably discharged.

Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Connie; his children, Rhonda McKim of Red Wing, Minn., Eric Garrison of Savage, Minn., and Grant Garrison of Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Kathy Johnson of Roseville, Calif.; brother and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Garrison of Truman, Minn., and Karen (Jerome) Miller of Fairmont, Minn.; other relatives and friends.
