Wayne Delmar Lawrence
BLUE EARTH — Wayne Delmar Lawrence passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at the age of 85, at Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Patton Funeral Home, and one hour prior the service Friday at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Wayne was born Feb. 8, 1937, to Sophia (Humburg) and Delmar Lawrence, and grew up southwest of Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1958 and then began to farm in 1958. In 1964, he married Donna Kramersmeier of Ledyard, Iowa. They had three children, Delmar, Rhonda and Jason. Wayne loved farming and retired in 2002 but continued to work on the farm. Wayne and Donna enjoyed many fishing trips to northern Minnesota. He would tell his kids, he always got the big one, even if he didn’t. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Rhonda (Eric) Payne, and Jason; grandchildren, Danielle (Paul) Sonnek, Jacob Black, Alonzo Payne, Amanda Payne, Andrea Lawrence and Nicholas Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Emmett and Hunter; sisters, Joyce (Arlyn) Hubbard, and Barbara (JR) Hanson; sister-in-law, DeEtta Klatt.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Delmar; son, Delmar; brother-in-law, Richard Klatt; Donna’s parents, Arthur and Mildred Kramersmeier.
