Donna passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 23, 2021, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman, Minn. Memorials are preferred to Heartland Senior Living in Truman. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donna Fae (Day) Schaefer was born July 18, 1928, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Leno and Helen (Broker) Day. She attended District 105 country school in Pleasant Prairie Township, Martin County, Minn. On April 11, 1946, Donna was united in marriage to William Schaefer at St. Paul Evangelical and Reform Church in Pleasant Prairie Township. This union was blessed with five children: Patricia, Dianna, William Jr., Jean and George. Donna and William farmed in Pleasant Prairie Township until 1974. Donna also worked at the Fairmont Community Hospital until her retirement in 1993.

Donna enjoyed the many camping trips with her family. Her other hobbies included embroidery, picture puzzles, and gardening. Left to cherish her memory include her children, Patricia (Jean) Fiedler of Sauk Centre, Minn., Dianna (Gene-deceased) Duvall of St. Peter, Minn., William (Char) Schaefer of Burnsville, Minn., Jean (Ken) Steuber of Fairmont, Minn., and George (Wendy) Schaefer of The Villages, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Leno and Helen Day, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, William Schaefer; brother, Richard (Mary) Day; sister, Dolores (Lucian) Theobald; parents-in-law, George and Lydia Schaefer; brother-in-law, Herbert (Arlene) Schaefer; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Milton Ternberg and Leo Becker) Becker. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
