Donald H. Faber Sr.

TRIMONT — A celebration of life service for Donald H. Faber Sr., 88, of rural Trimont, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn., with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, and military honors by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373.

Don was called to his eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Donald Hessel Faber was born June 4, 1933, to Jake and Lilla (Huse) Faber on a farm in Kimball Township, rural Jackson, Minn. He received his education in country school to the eighth grade. He then farmed with his family. On June 5, 1953, he entered the U.S. Army serving until his honorable discharge on May 2, 1955. He then farmed with his family. Don married Nina Allen on June 15, 1955, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn. They were blessed with six sons, Donald Jr., Daniel, Dennis, David, Darwin and Douglas. After their marriage they lived on a farm in Elm Creek Township and farmed for several years and raised their family. Don continued to help on the farm until moving to a farm in rural Trimont in 1980. Nina died on Feb. 2, 2015. Don continued living on the farm until the time of his illness and death. Don was a member of First Lutheran Church and served on its church board, and was Cemetery Sexton and usher and was at one time it’s financial secretary. He was a member of the Trimont Conservation Club and a member and served on the Board of Directors at the Farmers Co-op. Don served on the Elm Creek Township Board for over 52 years and was an election judge. He was a member of Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont. He enjoyed his family, attending livestock auctions, apple juicing, fishing, playing cards and being with family and friends. He is survived by his five sons, Donny (Dawn) Faber, Dan (Denise) Faber, Denny (Pam) Faber, David (Dana) Faber, all of rural Sherburn, Minn., Doug (Bethany) Faber of rural Fairmont, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Mandy (Mark) Bosacker, Angie (Ryan) Pieri, Stacy (Chief) Garbers, Ryan (Anna) Faber, Abby (Geno) Butler, Dusty (Jenna) Faber, Jeanna Faber, Nancy (Mike) Collins, Amber (Levi) Kettner, Mary (Jess) Faber, Holden Faber, Hayley (AJ) Sowieja; 23 great-grandchildren, Jordan Bosacker, Grant, Elly, Ava Pieri, Braelyn, Braxton, Branton, Bryton, Britton Faber, Kaytlin Faber, Maddex, Rowan and Gannon Faber, Olivia, Lainey, Violet, Elise Garbers, Adley and Brantley Butler, Henry Schott Faber, Lincoln and Emersyn Kettner, Jae Sowieja; great-great-granddaughter, Rudie Rene; sisters, Delores Anderson of Marshall, Minn., and Lila Weberg of Claremont, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Diane Faber of Fairmont, Minn., Claribel Erickson of Wash., Judie Connor of Marietta, Ga., Linda Geistfeld of Truman, Minn., Birdella Allen of rural Trimont; brothers-in-law, Web (Grace) Allen of Fridley, Minn., and Oscar “Bud” Knaak of Madelia; nieces and nephews; special grand-kids, Kyle Steffen, Caleb Hansen, Kennedy, Karter and Kooper Janssen; other family members and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Clara Allen; wife, Nina Faber; son, Darwin “Ralph” Faber; sister, Twyla Weber; brother, Duane Faber; special grandson, Karson Janssen; and other family members. In lieu of flowers, Don’s family prefer memorials be given to First Lutheran Cemetery Fund, Trimont, Minn.
