Lowell Dean Johnson was born Nov. 29, 1932, on a farm in Galena Township, Martin County, Minn. Lowell was baptized and confirmed at Waverly Lutheran Church. He attended country school District 88 in Galena Township and graduated from Triumph-Monterey High School in 1950. After graduation, he worked along side his father, Chris, on their dairy farm. On Dec. 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Germaine Wolner at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James, Minn. They were blessed with five children that they raised on the family farm. Lowell later was employed by Railway Motors and then Greenlee in Fairmont. In 2010, Lowell and Germaine moved to Prairie View Apartments in St. James. Lowell loved living on the farm. He enjoyed mowing the yard, gardening, and grading the lane. He also enjoyed traveling with family, cutting wood, stoking the wood stove, and hosting family gatherings. Lowell especially loved being with his grandchildren; giving them rides on the tractor and snuggling them while lounging in his recliner. Lowell was a gentle, light-hearted man, and we will miss his big, deep laugh. Lowell was a member of Hosanna Free Lutheran Church in St. James.
