Keith H. Sickler
SHERBURN — A service of remembrance for Keith H. Sickler, 81, of Estherville, Iowa, formerly of rural Sherburn, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the First Congregational Church in Sherburn, Minn., with Pastor Mike Ennis officiating. Burial will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn.
Keith was called to his eternal rest Saturday morning, March 12, 2022, at Aspire of Estherville, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com
Keith Horace Sickler was born June 2, 1940, to Horace and Ruth (Saxton) Sickler on a farm in rural Sherburn, Minn. He received his education in Elm Creek Township until the 8th grade. Keith attended Sherburn High School and later graduated with the class of 1958. On Nov. 22, 1959, he was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Hoffmeyer in Sherburn, Minn. After their marriage they farmed in Elm Creek Township with his Dad and was a carpenter in the area. He farmed for 59 years and did carpentry work for 26 years. In 2020, they moved to Homestead in Estherville, Iowa to be near their family. Keith was a member of the First Congregational Church in Sherburn. He held various jobs, was Board chair, served as head usher and assisted in building the new church which opened in 1995. The Sunday School addition was built in 2002. He ran the road grader/snow plow for Elm Creek Township for 39 years. Keith also was board chairman of NuWay Co-op for 36 years and was a salesman for Jacques Seed Company. He was a member of Many Voices Choir for 10 years and he collected antique tractors and Christmas houses. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gwen Sickler of Estherville, Iowa; two daughters, Janette (Scott) Jensen of Sherburn, Minn., and Nancy (Jim) Diekmann of Estherville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Beth (Chris) Hanson of Byron, Minn., Ben (Amber) Jensen of Lake Crystal, Minn., Spenser Diekmann (Lauren Larson) of Davenport, Iowa, Noah Diekmann (Lauren Newgard) of rural Sherburn, Minn., and Molly Diekmann of Estherville, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jace Hanson, Mason, Harper and Everett Jensen; two sisters, Kathy (Mel) Nelson of Rockford, Ill., and Ruth Ann (Jim) North of Florida; sisters-in-law, Marsha Sickler of Sherburn, Minn., and Dorothy Anderson of Hartley, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ruth Sickler; brother, Tom Sickler; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Hulda Hoffmeyer; brothers-in-law, Richard Anderson and Dwight Hoffmeyer; and other relatives.
