Jeremiah “Jay” Jack Johnson was born March 18, 1978, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Alan and Valerie (Iliff) Johnson. He graduated from Granada High School in 1996 before furthering his education at Mankato Vocational Technical School. On Feb. 26, 2005, Jay was united in marriage to Alycia Martin at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. The couple made their home in Granada, Minn., where they were blessed with three children: Tessa, Zander, and Elsy. Jay worked for local area pork producers where he quickly became another member to the farm families. He was blessed with an amazing ability to know any make, model or part on almost anything with a small engine. He did mechanic jobs on the side until he became a full-time mechanic in 2008 when he was hired as the shop manager at Doug Sports Center. Jay and his wife later purchased the business and renamed it Octane Power Sports. Jay enjoyed archery as a family, fishing, hunting and teaching his kids anything that he could. He loved being able to coach his son’s football team and cheering his daughters on in an any activity that they were involved in. Jay’s greatest joy in the whole world was his children. He was an amazing father and loved his whole family with all of his heart. Jay was also known for his quick wit, sarcastic smirk, fun-loving attitude and someone who never gave up. If he wasn’t giving you a hard time, then you should be worried. He was a member of East Chain Evangelical Free Church, where he had a whole other family that he deeply cherished. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alycia Johnson; children, Tessa, Zander, and Elsy Johnson; mother, Val Johnson; father, Alan Johnson; sister, Hannah Johnson; parents-in-law, Dave Schuster, and Vonda (Dennis) Schwarz; sisters-in-law, Sarah, Erianne, and Mataya; aunts, uncles, and many cousins; and honorary family, Ken and Jill Craig and their family. Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Barbara Iliff, and Carl and Mina Johnson. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
