She grew up with 3 older sisters, Fairy Lorena, Della Mae and Violet Jane, along with younger brother Billy Joe. By the time she was in grade school she was singing with the Morgan Sister Quartet. She met her husband, Ted, while visiting her older sister Fairy in Minnesota. They married on Dec. 31, 1946. Following their marriage, they farmed in Fox Lake Township, then later in Lake Belt Township. Opal read the Bible to her children and taught them to sing and live in harmony. She was an avid reader, amassing an extensive library. She was well known for her delicious pies, her lovely crocheted afghans, her doll collection, and documenting family history.
