Dave Holliday

BLUE EARTH — Dave Holliday, age 81, of Blue Earth, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth.

T. David “Dave” Holliday was born June 4, 1940, in Lexington, Neb., to Fred and Edna (Friese) Holliday. He married D. Marie Huggett on Sept. 4, 1964. Following their wedding they moved to Delavan, Minn., where they started their family. Dave always worked hard to provide for his family. Throughout the years he was a mechanic, at one time owning Dave’s Northstar in Winnebago. He worked as a general laborer until 1992. At that point he had to retire due to heart problems. Following retirement he enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop Holli-Built, building custom designed pieces for family and friends. He also made hundreds of rag rugs on his old rug loom. D. Marie passed away in 2000 at the age of 56. Later, Dave met RuthAnn Wannarka of Fairmont, through a mutual friend. They enjoyed each other’s company for the next 16 years until her passing. Dave’s companion Molly, his beautiful Shih Tzu, was his best friend for more than 13 years. They walked many miles together. Molly passed away 1-21-2022, which left Dave heartbroken. Left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Janie Holliday of Chatfield, Vickie (Mark) Sohn of Blue Earth; his son, Jim (Connie) Holliday of Aurora, Neb.; grandchildren, Alex Menk, Nathan (Paige) Menk, Corin (Tyler) Johnsrud, Amy (Zac) Bartlett, Rachel Sohn, Dane Sohn, Christine (Jon Bruner) Holliday, Tyler (Tabitha) Holliday; great-grandchildren, Maxx, Merritt, Trafton, Caden, Case and Kallie; along with extended Wannarka family, friends, and neighbors. Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (2000); his special friend, RuthAnn (2020); siblings, Bill Holliday, Jean Apgar, Judy Eaton; and his parents. www.pattonfh.com
