REDWOOD FALLS — Alan L. Palmer, age 76, of Redwood Falls, formerly of rural Wabasso, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at New Ulm Medical Center, surrounded by family. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be sent at

Alan Lee Palmer was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Fairmont, Minn., to James and Valeria (Kuehl) Palmer. He graduated from Huntley High School in 1963. From 1966-1968, Alan enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a cook and driver in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he farmed in rural Ormsby, Minn., while also working at the Ormsby Elevator. On Aug. 29, 1970, Alan married the love of his life, Lois Neumann, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wabasso. In 1977, the family moved to rural Wabasso where Alan farmed until retirement. In 2014, Alan and Lois moved to Redwood Falls. Alan enjoyed cooking, and livestock and crop farming. You could often find him in the garden or tinkering in the garage. He loved to go fishing and camping. Alan is survived by his spouse of 51 1/2 years, Lois Palmer (Neumann); children, Debra (Leigh) Burlingame of St Charles, Lori (Curt) Lamb of Almond, Wis., Daniel of Big Arm, Mont., and Ted (Angie) on the family farm, rural Wabasso; grandchildren, Alexander, Eduardo and Li Ann Burlingame, and Cade, Carlee, and Tanner Lamb; sister, Diana Hoppe of Trenton, Mo.; brother-in-law, James Putnam of Winnebago; uncle, Herold Palmer of Brainerd; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Palmer and Karen Putnam; and brother-in-law, Larry Hoppe.
