Jon Paul Nutt was born Dec. 6, 1971, in Fairmont, Minn., to Ronald and Sherrill (Spielman) Nutt. Growing up he attended school in Fairmont and was a member of the 1989 graduating class from Fairmont High School. Following high school graduation, Jon furthered his education in Jackson and later again in Mankato. On Oct. 20, 1989, Jon was united in marriage to Laura Maidl in Sioux Falls, S.D. This union was blessed with three children, Elizabeth, Thea, and Joshua. Jon worked at AgCo in Jackson for many years before starting his career at Valero. He was a faithful member of the Christian Church in Fairmont where he was active as a deacon. Jon thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, boating, or working in his yard and garden, he just loved to be outside. Jon spent much of his time camping at RJ Campground, nicknaming his camper the “Nutt Hut,” and spending time with his friends and family. Most of all, Jon loved his family. He rarely missed his children’s sporting events and was so proud of his granddaughter, Sidney, “Papa’s little peanut.” Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Elizabeth (Tieg) Arens of Sherburn, Minn., Thea Nutt (fiance, Skyler Cunning) of Fairmont, and Joshua (fiance, Alanna Olson) of Fairmont; granddaughter, Sidney Cunning; wife, Laura Nutt; stepfather, Dennis Slater, many siblings, nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends. Jon was preceded in death by his parents; baby sister; and mother and father in-law. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
