John V. Hilgendorf
FAIRMONT — A celebration of life service for John Victor Hilgendorf, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of rural Welcome, Minn., will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Fraser Township, rural Fairmont. Burial and military honors will be at a later date in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Fairmont.
John was called to his eternal rest Sunday morning, Jan. 16, 2022, at his home in Fairmont. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township. Kramer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John was born June 10, 1930, on the family farm in Waverly Township, Watonwan County, Minn., to Edwin and Elsie (Wassman) Hilgendorf. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: his wife, JoAnn Hilgendorf of Fairmont; his five children, Deb Schubert of Jackson, Minn., Cheryl Hoppe of Fairmont, Tamara Bartel of Mountain Lake, Minn. Bonnie Nielsen of Jackson, and John E. Hilgendorf of rural Welcome; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Hilgendorf of rural Welcome, Allen Hilgendorf of Menomonie, Wis., Joel Hilgendorf of Gilbert, Minn.; other relatives and friends.
