Susan M. Selbrade
FAIRMONT — Susan M. Selbrade, 70, passed peacefully Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at home after losing her long battle with liver disease. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont will be handling the details. Sue wished to delay memorial services due to the Covid spread. A private memorial picnic will be held at her acreage during the summer months. Condolences can be sent to Jeff at 272 240th Ave., Fairmont, MN 56031. No gifts please.
Sue was born May 16, 1951, in Faribault, Minn., the daughter of Orlando “Brick” and Ethel (Kelly) Simons. The family moved to Fairmont in 1955 where Sue attended Catholic, then public schools, graduating in 1969. Sue later attended Willmar Vocational School and worked at several jobs before retiring from 3M in Fairmont. Sue married Jeff Selbrade on April 1, 1971, and finally settled on her loved acreage outside of Fairmont, where she raised her family, her horses, her dogs, and many cats. Sue loved her family and loved to travel, camp, and to scrapbook with her many friends. Sue was never shy about saying “I Love You,” well we love you for a long, long time and will miss you. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Selbrade; son, Jasen Selbrade; daughter, Christina Larson and fiancé, Robert Henry; grandsons, Brett Tietema, Nikia and Baily Selbrade; granddaughters, Cearra Selbrade and Kaylee Larson; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Addisyn Tietema. Sue is also survived by her sisters, Kathy (Richard) Jorgensen of Fairmont, Betty Kropp of Minneapolis, Minn., JoAnn (Jerald) Hagen of Welcome, Minn., and MaryLou Lenort of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Louise Schaal of Waseca, Minn., Phyllis Nordeen of Minneapolis, Janice (Greg) Miller of Janesville, Minn., Linda Selbrade of Waterville, Minn., Mary Selbrade of Welcome; brothers-in-law, Roger Selbrade of Fairmont, Gene Selbrade of Fairmont, Stan Selbrade of Willmar, Minn.; many nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Ethel Simons; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Marjorie Selbrade; brothers-in-law, Guy Kropp, Edwin Lenort, Steve Nordeen, James Selbrade, Randy Selbrade, Christopher Selbrade, Clinton Selbrade; sister-in-law, Shirley Selbrade; infant grandson, Adam Tietema; and nephew, Chris McCoy. Please no cards or gifts. A memorial donation will be made in Sue’s and her beloved King Charles Spaniel “Kelly” name to the Martin County Humane Society.
