Glenn Darrell Cyphers

CEDAR FALLS — Glenn Darrell Cyphers, 73, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Mercy-One Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, from complications of leukemia. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Military honors will be conducted at the Waverly Area Veterans Post in Waverly at 4:30 p.m. Following the honors, the family invites you to continue in celebrating Glenn’s life at the Post. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn was born Aug. 5, 1948, in Blue Earth, Minn., the son of Howard and Elaine (Erikson) Cyphers. He graduated from Thompson High School. Glenn entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966, serving during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1970. Upon his return he attended Avionics School in Mineral Wells, Texas. He began working in avionics in Des Moines. On June 10, 1978, he was united in marriage to Jane Ellen Salfer in Mankato, Minn. The couple lived in Indianola until 1988 when they moved to their acreage outside of Janesville. Glenn continued his avionics career in Waterloo until 1991. He then became self employed with Cyphers Equine Service where he specialized in training horses. He retired in 2015.

Glenn was a proud member of the Waverly Area Veterans Post in Waverly. He served in many capacities, was active in the Marine Corp League and served on the color guard. Professionally, Glenn was active with both the Black Hawk Creek Saddle Club and the Iowa Ranch Horse Association. He was a big time NASCAR fan, especially cheering for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Glenn is survived by his wife, Jane; one daughter, Callie (Josh) Roberts of Dysart, siblings, Becky (John) Wohlford of Monticello, Minn., Nora Voss of Madison Lake, Minn., LeAnn (Michael) McCormick of Oregon City, Ore., Ruth Cyphers of Fairmont, Minn., Carol (Mike) Nowicki of East Chain, Minn., Shirley (Kip) Willis of Kalispell, Mont., brother-in-law, Jerry Salfer of Mankato, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Myla Salfer of Mankato. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Cyphers; mother, Elaine (Cyphers) Cottew; and a brother, Eddy Cyphers.
