Wade Wegner

SWEA CITY — Wade W. Wegner passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Hancock County Health Systems in Britt, Iowa. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City, Iowa, with Pastor Seth Campbell as Officiant. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the church in Swea City.

Wade Wegner was born Sept. 8, 1967, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Jerry Lee and Karen (Johanson) Wegner. He graduated from North Kossuth High School in 1985 before attending Pipestone Area Vocational College for Ag Science. Wade held various jobs in the agriculture industry, including hauling livestock and working for area farmers. In his free time, Wade enjoyed going to the sales barn, community auctions, getting cattle ready for the fair, and going to the races. He enjoyed animals, this was evident with his involvement in the Cattleman’s Association, 4-H and FFA livestock showing. Wade is survived by his siblings, Jody McCartney of Fairmont, Minn., Kim (Jim) Morgan of Pipestone, Minn., and Kent (Nicole) Wegner of Emmetsburg, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jordan (Ceira) Wegner, Christopher (Jessica Holtz) McCartney, Brandon McCartney, Tayler

(Michelle Boekelman) Wegner, Jacob Morgan, and Jackson Morgan;great-nieces, Skyler, Blakley, Presley, Andi, and Athena; as well as many aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Karen (Johanson) Wegner; grandparents, Earl and Henrietta Wegner, Harriet Johanson, and Everette (Madelia) Johanson; and brother-in-law, David McCartney.
