Laura Dunker

FAIRMONT — Laura Louise Dunker, age 38, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., from Covid-19. A memorial/celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with visitation from 12-1:30 p.m. at the church. Dessert and coffee will be served afterwards in Fellowship Hall.

Laura was born in Worthington, Minn., to Dorothy Mae (Bettin) and Michael Allen Dunker. Laura grew up in Jackson, Minn., and eventually moved to Fairmont, Minn. Laura was first and foremost a mother to her three daughters. Although she suffered with three rare medical issues, Laura volunteered in many civic and school activities because she enjoyed it, but to also leave the legacy of working hard and giving to others for her girls. Laura volunteered on the Interlaken Heritage Days board, PETT (parents and educators teaming together), at Fairmont Elementary and Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School, and MCSAP Coalition (Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and Youth Coalition). Laura was an amazing volunteer for so many organizations in our community. She volunteered for Grace Lutheran Church when her kids were part of confirmation and after school program, Chaos, and at the elementary school. She also helped with chaperoning events sponsored by our Youth Coalition (formerly YOCO, now Empower). Laura is survived by her three beautiful daughters, Eden, Mychaella and Giannah Dunker of Fairmont; brother, Brad Dunker and his wife, Krissy and their son, Will of Anchorage, Alaska; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends that became her family and a host of fur nieces and fur nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; her father, Michael; and many other friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Laura’s girls.
