Marianne Holtz
TRIMONT — A service of remembrance for Marianne Holtz, 80, of rural Trimont, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minn. A graveside service and burial of Marianne’s ashes which will be placed next to her mother, Josephine Holtz, will take place prior to the service at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont. Military honors by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, Marianne went to be with her Lord on Monday evening, Dec. 27, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System, St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Marianne Holtz was born May 29, 1941, in Triumph, Minn., to Harold Holtz Sr. and Josephine Nord. She attended Trimont Schools and later graduated with the class of 1959. Marianne received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Minnesota in the 1960’s. Her life was dedicated to serving people. She served veterans at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis for 30 years as a recreation therapist. This led her to coaching many successful teams for the annual National Paralyzed Veterans of America Wheelchair Games as well as coordinating the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival local competition. As an Army Reserve veteran for 8 years, she served with the 5501st U.S. Army Hospital at Fort Snelling, Minn. She continued to serve veterans through the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans Tribute in Trimont. Marianne was responsive to the needs of people by volunteering with the St. Croix Valley Girl Scout Council and CREST (Caregiver Response Effort and Service). She also contributed blood for 50 years to the bloodmobile of the American Red Cross.
She was a cherished daughter, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend. She touched many individuals with her purpose driven life and generous spirit. Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church Cemetery or American Legion Auxiliary 373 of Trimont.
