Martin E. Bremer
CEYLON — A memorial service for Martin E. Bremer, age 70, of Ceylon, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Those attending are strongly suggested to wear masks at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family will plan a gathering of Martin’s friends and family at the Welcome Legion at a date to be determined.
Martin passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 29, 2021, at his home in Ceylon, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Martin “Marty” Edward Bremer was born April 11, 1951, to Alwin and Lorene (Meier) Bremer. Marty attended parochial school at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Wilbert through 8th grade and then graduated from Ceylon High School in 1969. Marty married Kathy (Erickson) in 1974 and they made their home together in rural Ceylon, Minn. Marty and Kathy raised two children, Kris and Tricia, and they moved into Ceylon in 2001. Marty was employed most of his adult life as a welder (and was very good at it) including more than 25 years at Weigh-Tronix in Fairmont. Over the years Marty greatly enjoyed golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. In recent years he enjoyed reading and truly looked forward to spending time with his family, especially his three granddaughters. Marty is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; his son, Kris (Mary) Bremer of Portland, Ore.; his daughter, Tricia Bremer of Hastings; three granddaughters, Mabel, Beatrice and Evelyn Bremer. He is also survived by his siblings, Howard Bremer (Mary) of Lakewood Colo., Dorothy Bremer of Lauderdale, Minn., Helen (LaVern) House of Spring Valley, Minn., Darlene Rautenkranz (Dan) of Reading, Minn., Mary (Ron) Johnson of Sherburn, Minn., Richard Bremer of Ceylon, Minn., and Ramona (Todd) Morris of Fairmont, Minn.; in-laws, Renee (Dan) St. John, Sylvia (Don) Moore, Maureen (Loren) Blilie, Dave (Jan) Erickson, DeWayne (Ruth) Herbrandson, Margaret Erickson, Karen Erickson, Judy (Dave) Schmitz, Pam (Glen) Gjerde, Patsy (John) Bode, Ellen (John) Petersen, and Kermit (Marlene) Erickson; 36 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. Marty was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers-in-law, Merlyn Erickson, Sam Erickson, Edward Erickson, and Jim Herbrandson; and nephews, Mark Erickson and Eric Schmitz.
