Daniel Lyle James Rohman was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Trimont, Minn., son of Lyle and Lorraine Rohman. Dan graduated high school in 1966 from Trimont High School. He then enrolled at Estherville Community College, where he studied and played football until he

was drafted into the military in June of 1968. Then, he was off to basic training at Fort Campbell, Ky., and eventually went on to Fort Lewis, Wash. Dan shipped out to Vietnam in December 1968, where he was part of the 5th Division, 11th Infantry Regiment, 1st

Battalion, ”A” Company. During his tour he was awarded 2 purple hearts and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. After returning home in April, Dan married his high school sweetheart, Ginger, and moved to Colorado Springs to finish out his military obligation. His service completed, he attended Mankato State University, where he earned his teaching degree. He took a job as a high school teacher and coach in the small town of Belview, Minn., staying there and raising his sons, Rob and Grant, for the next 30 plus years. After the

passing of Ginger in 2001, Dan married Marlene Hultquist on July 3, 2004. During his time in Belview, he served on the volunteer fire department, started a summer rec baseball program, and was involved in many other community activities. Dan loved the

outdoors. From golfing with friends and family at the Redwood Falls Golf Club, to hunting elk with his sons out in the Rocky Mountains, to sitting in a duck boat for hours and not shooting a thing; he was always up for the adventure. Dan was also an avid guitar player and loved to sing in his quartet. As a longtime school teacher and counselor, he was a mentor to so many, and changed dozens of young lives. Over the past few years, with the help of some friends and the organization Warriors & Walleyes, Dan had gotten back into fishing. He went on to make some awesome memories fishing with his two sons. Dan taught his sons, it’s not always about the take, but the memories you make. Boy, did we make a bunch. Dan is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marlene; sons, Rob (Tara) Rohman of North Mankato, Grant (Megan) Rohman of Eagle, Colo.; stepson, Blake Hultquist of Redwood Falls; grandchildren, Kaylee, Claire, Rosella, Hayden and Bentley; mother, Lorraine of Sherburn; siblings, Sandy (Dave) Clancy of New Ulm, Nadine (Roger) Quade of Trimont, Karen (Rollie) Knudson of Mason City, Iowa, Alan (Jill) Rohman of Spicer; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by father, Lyle; wife, Ginger; brother, Ken; brother-in-law, Harlan Harries; sister-in-law, Mary Wirth; father-in-law, Donald Kuehl; mother-in-law, Deloris Kuehl; and mother-in-law, Madonna Michels.
