Karson Kent Janssen was born May 1, 2002, to Kent and Jolynn (Tasler) Janssen at the Windom Hospital in Windom, Minn. He was baptized on June 9, 2002, and later confirmed on his 14th birthday at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Karson was a 2020 graduate of Martin County West High School. He was involved in FFA (served as vice president), 4-H, basketball, baseball, and more. He absolutely loved playing and watching sports. He rarely missed a game of his older siblings and knew the Minnesota Twins stats by heart. He had numerous employers including the Trimont Town Center and this past summer he had an internship at Nu-Way in Trimont. Karson then attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He was so excited to be a Golden Gopher and was so ready. He was a sophomore studying agricultural communications and marketing with a minor in sports management. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity – Lambda Chapter. He loved going to Gopher game days, participating in college events, going over to the Minneapolis campus and living on the St. Paul campus. He never could have enough friends as he had enough love for everyone.
Karson was the light in any room. Always there to offer a smirk, crack a joke or lend a helping hand. He had a great sense of humor. He had a great sense of style and took pride in this. Karson was a confident young man and oh so kind. He loved the water, the sunshine, the outdoors, and country music. He had a strong faith and enjoyed attending church. He always had a smile on his face. He was a great son, a loving brother, and an incredible friend to all.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Kent and Jolynn Janssen of rural Sherburn, Minn.; sister, Kennedy Janssen (significant other, Coleman Strosahl); two brothers, Karter Janssen and Kooper Janssen; grandmothers, Betty Tasler of Windom, Minn., and Ruth Janssen of Leroy, Minn.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and countless friends. Karson was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edward Tasler and Kenneth Janssen; and aunt and godmother, Jayne Arvidson.
