Gene was called to his eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2021, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com

Gene David Wertheimer was born Feb. 27, 1960, in St. Paul, Minn., to David and Margaret (McDonough) Wertheime. He received his education at St. Thomas High School, St. John’s Military Academy in Deerfield, Wis., and was a 1978 graduate of Cretin High School. He worked at various jobs in St. Paul until working for Continental Airlines. On Aug. 5, 2000, he was united in marriage to Joyce Taylor in Faribault, Minn. After their marriage they lived in Faribault where Gene was employed for United Airlines until his retirement in 2014. In 2016 they moved to Sherburn, Minn. Gene would like to spend time with his grandchildren especially playing video games with them. You could find Gene riding his Gold Wing Trike or going fishing with his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wertheimer of Sherburn, Minn.; son, Daniel (Jessica) Taylor of Sherburn; four grandchildren, David Taylor, DJ Taylor, Austin Taylor and Cheyenne Taylor; two sisters, Janet (Robert) Kelly of Memphis, Tenn., and Julie Evans of Northfield, Minn.; other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, David and Margaret Wertheimer; mother and stepfather, Verna and Joe Duncanson; and other relatives.
