She received her education attending school in Heron Lake and graduated from Heron Lake High School with the class of 1947. Helen was a kind and caring person and had a passion for helping others. Following her graduation, Helen’s passion led her to attend St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester where she received her degree in nursing. Helen then returned to Heron Lake where she married Rod Hager at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake on June 11, 1955. Together the couple would make their home in Fairmont, Minn. where they celebrated 66 years of marriage and were blessed with three children, John, Tom and Patsy. Helen loved the medical world and truly enjoyed working and talking medical experiences with her nurse and doctor colleagues.
