On Aug. 29, 1984, Ryan Chad Adams blessed the earth with his presence when he was born in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Byron Adams and Jackie (Schwieger) Hall. His flamboyant nature and love of pushing boundaries was evident in his youth and he loved the adventures that came from life out on the farm. Ryan attended school in Granada and graduated from Granada High School with the class of 2003. During this time, Ryan earned the nick name of Pickles and was fondly called “Pickles” wherever he went. Following his graduation, Ryan attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he studied diesel mechanics. After earning his degree, Ryan returned to Granada where he helped farm. Ryan loved the outdoors and looked forward to yearly hunting trips. On one such bear hunting trip to Grand Marias, Minn., Ryan met his most formidable hunting challenge when he met Heather Smith. The couple hit it off and learned they lived within a few miles of each other and soon started dating. On Sept. 29, 2007, Ryan and Heather were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. Together the couple would make their home on a farm near East Chain, Minn., and would later move to Ledyard, Iowa, where they were blessed with two children, Ryder and Ayden. Ryan lived by the motto of work hard and play hard. He was incredibly talented at fixing things no matter if it was electronics or completely tearing down a dirty diesel engine and rebuilding it to run perfectly, he could fix it. Ryan owned and operated Adams Ag LLC and sold seed to area farmers and was also owner and operator of B&R Pork and Pumping. Ryan even dabbled in making his own beer that he and his many friends enjoyed trying and sharing laughs over. He treasured spending time with his family made many fond memories fishing, camping, and even bouncing across the field in the tractor. Ryan was extremely proud of his two sons, Ryder and Ayden and loved his wife of 14 years, Heather. His passion for life and adventure and his mischievous smile will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him a friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Heather Adams; sons, Ryder and Ayden; father, Byron Adams; mother, Jackie Hall; three sisters, Kamela (Matt) Stadler, Kasey Adams, Makayla Hall; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Donald (Linda) Adams, Karla (Berry) Bell, Ernest (MaryAnn) Adams, Karen Adams, and John (Sue) Schwieger; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty Lou Schwieger, Vince and Elizabeth Schwieger, and Donald and Florence Adams; baby niece, Braelyn Stadler; and father-in-law, David “Toots” Smith.
