Ruby A. Grathwohl

FAIRMONT — Funeral Services for Ruby A. Grathwohl, 93, of Fairmont, Minn. will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Ruby passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruby Aline Grathwohl was born on April 21, 1928 to Jesse and Goldie (Jackman) Allen in Jackson, Minn. Ruby received her education in her earlier years from Petersburg School and graduated from Jackson High School in 1946. After her education, she worked at Stokley Van Camp in the office from 1946 to 1950. On May 5, 1948, Ruby was united in marriage to Robert Grathwohl at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage, they made their home in Sherburn, Minn. Robert and Ruby were blessed with four children, Kathy, Karen, Kristy and Kevin. They lived in Sherburn for a short while until moving to Ceylon and eventually back to Fairmont. Ruby worked at County Market for many years passing out food samples and enjoyed the many people she met, especially the kids. Ruby was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ceylon and Fairmont. Ruby enjoyed playing cards and going out for a night on the town to dance with Robert. She was devoted to her family and took great pride in raising her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Kathy (Doug) Scheppmann of Boulder City, Nev., Karen (Jeff) DeWar of Fairmont, Minn., and Kristy (John) Boettcher of Spirit Lake, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Kate Grathwohl of Big Lake, Minn.; grandchildren, Tony Scheppmann, Scott (Kim) Scheppmann, Amanda (Jason) Ratcliff, Jennifer (Jared) Ottinger, Dan Boettcher, Emily Boettcher, Matt Grathwohl and Danielle (Connor) Runyan; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Garrison and Jean Grathwohl; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Goldie Allen; husband, Robert Grathwohl; son, Kevin Grathwohl; seven siblings; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
