Velma Jean Walters

FAIRMONT — A Celebration of Life Service for Velma Jean Walters, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Welcome, Minn. Burial will be in the Center Chain Cemetery, rural Fairmont, Minn. Velma was called to her eternal rest Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minn. Velma Jean Mulso was born on June 29, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Lutt) Mulso in Wisner, Neb. At a young age she moved with her family to Ormsby, Minn. and attended school there. She later attended school in St. James and graduated with the class of 1948. Velma was employed at a café in Ormsby and that is where she met Jake Walters and they were later married on Oct. 21, 1949 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ormsby, Minn. After their marriage they lived in Granada until moving to Fairmont. They started their family and four sons were born to this union, Gary, Mark, Craig and Todd. After raising her sons, Velma was employed at Teledyne-Areospace and then Big Lou’s Dress Shop both in Fairmont. She greatly enjoyed being with her family, crocheting, cooking and making rice crispy bars and creamy cucumbers.

She is survived by her three sons, Mark (Julie) Walters, Craig Walters and Todd (Patty) Walters all of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Wade Walters and special friend Ari, Jesse(Krysten) Walters, Aja (Ryan) Ross, Tony Walters, Ashley Walters-Hinz, Andrea, Nicole and Desiree Walters, Sean and Nick Donnelly; great-grandchildren, Chase, Jackson, Mya, Jake and Ela, Henrik and Rielle, Sam, Aiden, Addysen and Will; sister-in-law, Sylvia Walters of Fort Dodge, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives and all friends.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Mulso; husband, Jake Walters on Dec. 27, 2011; son, Gary Walters; sister, Irene (Cliff) Syverson; brothers, Henry Mulso and Dale (Grace) Mulso and other relatives.
