Dona F. Decker

GRANADA — Dona Fae Decker, 91, of Granada, Minn., was born Oct. 1, 1929, to Florian and Mabel (Berndt) Michalke in O’Neill, Neb.   Her family moved to Granada in 1937. On Feb. 19, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Decker at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. She is survived by her loving family: son, Gordon (Ann) of Chaska, and their children, Daniel and Emily; son, Robert (Melissa) of Mapleton, and their children, Ellie (Nelson Denn), Casey (Maggie McInerney), Noah (Klaire Hudson) and Thayne; sister-in-law, Lorraine Michalke; many nieces and nephews. Dona was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; an infant daughter; her parents; her sister, Gloria and brother-in-law Delbert Becker; sister, Flora Schafer and brother-in-law Richard; brother, Kenneth Michalke; parents-in-law, William and Edna Decker; brother-in-law, Gordon Decker and wife Marvel; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Luhmann and husband Carl. 

Dona was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, friend and neighbor to many. Her work ethic and strong-willed spirit inspired her family throughout her life. She enjoyed being outside in her garden and caring for her sheep. Her baking skills with be missed by all those who enjoyed her creations. She was a long-time employee of J.C. Penney in Fairmont and a volunteer in the Lutz Wing at the hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, at 10:30 at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, with visitation one hour before the service. Dona passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, Minn. The family would like to thank Dr. Giri, Dr. Joseph, Dr. Brevik, and the nursing staff at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont for their compassionate care of Dona during her illness.
