Judith Diann (Heffele) Garbers was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Mountain Lake, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Amanda (Kunkel) Heffele. Judi attended school in Jeffers, Minn. and graduated from Jeffers High School. On Aug. 20, 1966, Judi was united in marriage to John “Jack” Garbers at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, Minn. This union was blessed with two children, Tonya and Trevor. In 1966, Judi began working at 3M in Fairmont as the Human Resource assistant and remained employed with 3M until her retirement on Jan. 1, 2000. After her retirement Judi moved to Rosemount to be closer to her family and worked part time at Fresh Thyme and Cub Foods. Family was extremely important to Judi and she considered them the light of her life. She cherished the opportunity to attend sporting events for her grandchildren only missing when her health prevented her. Judi loved all her family “to the moon and back” and even held a special place in her heart for all her friends that she loved to share treats with. Faith was an important part of Judi’s life and was her rock as her health began to fail. She believed that God had a plan and trusted in Him. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tonya (Chris) Lonke of Rosemount, Minn., and Trevor (Heather) Garbers of Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren, Taylor Lonke and Jack Lonke; brothers, Gary Heffele of Lake Benton, Minn., and Charles (Mary Ann) Heffele of Butterfield, Minn.; brother-in-law, Wayne Mathistad of St. James; other extended family and friends. Judi was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Amanda Heffele; sisters, Marjean Mathistad, Loretta Hanson and Norma Koenig; niece, Joan Mathistad; nephews, Kim and Kevin Mathistad and Ricky Koenig; brothers-in-law, Myron Hanson and Lowell Koenig; and sister-in-law, Carol Heffele.
