Marian Lorraine Carlson

DELAVAN — There comes a time in life when we leave our loved ones behind and let the soul take us to the promise of life everlasting where pain and suffering are no more. Marian Lorraine Carlson made her journey away from family and friends on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Marian was born April 30, 1926, in Winnebago, Minn., to John and Mary Quint. She was a graduate of Winnebago High School and married Virgil Dale Carlson on July 20, 1946, who preceded her in death in 1994. Marian and Virgil lived on their farm seven miles northeast of Delavan. Together, they raised four sons, Gary Carlson and wife Mary of Blue Earth, Chuck Carlson (deceased Feb. 12, 2021), Tom Carlson of Fairmont, and Kenn Carlson and spouse John Stofko of Minneapolis. She had eight siblings, three of which survive her today, Delores Osmundson of Delavan, Minn., Larry Quint of Monroe, Mich., and Roger Quint of Vadnais Heights, Minn. Marian was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan having taught Sunday School for several years and singing alto in the choir at the East Lutheran Church many years ago. Education and spiritual instruction were priorities with her. After her husband’s death in 1994 she chose to remain in the house on the farm with her son, Chuck. He did a wonderful job of helping her stay independent while making sure he was there to check on her safety. In October of 2018 she suffered a major stroke which rendered it impossible for her to return to the farm, at which time Parkview Senior Care Center in Wells, Minn., became her home. The entire staff helped with her transition to living away from the farm; she did enjoy several activities (bingo) and music groups were always a favorite with her. A celebration of the life of Marian and son, Chuck, is being planned for 2 p.m. June 18, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan, Minn. www.spencerowen.com
