Delores M. Hutchison

STAPLES -- Delores Mae (Dibble) Hutchison, age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 21, 2021. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Staples Church of Christ in Staples, Minn., with Rev. Barry Klein officiating. Friends may gather from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at the Staples Church of Christ in Staples. If you wish to attend the service but don’t feel comfortable to gather with others, you may listen to the service in the church parking lot, tuning to FM 87.7.

Delores was born Aug. 8, 1928, (8/8/28 if asked) in Fairmont, Minn., to Henry and Elizabeth Dibble, as one of 10 children. DeDe, (high school nickname), was a 1948 graduate of Fairmont High School, and married Melvin Carl Hutchison on Nov. 21, 1948, after the fall harvest season. The union was blessed with five children and 71 years together, after the passing of Melvin in the fall of 2019. Delores lived her life by the words written on the front cover of her Bible: "Work for Christ. What You Believe, You will Practice." Delores loved her 14 grandchildren and holding a new baby, grand or otherwise, was the highlight of her year. DeDe was game for Kings Corners between hands of Solitare with any of her grandchildren, but must not interfere with her "shows." Delores often kept her fingers busy watching her shows by crocheting items for any milestone: births, birthdays, graduation, weddings or just because. Delores looked forward to the opportunity of eating out because no cooking was required, which she did not much enjoy. Delores, aka DeDe, Mom, Grandma, Itty Bitty or (insert nickname you recall). She will be missed by her five children, Dennis of Staples, Karen (John) Mehr of Paynesville, Peggy of Cokato, June (Pat) Pawelk of Howard Lake, and DeeAnn (Lawrence) Hayes of Akeley. Grandma found delight upon the birth and watching the growth of 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren, youngest due in August. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; all of her siblings (four brothers and five sisters); in addition to her parents. Delores wishes for her final resting place to be with her Daddy in Fairmont. Delores's family extends gratitude for the care, time and loving patience shared by all with both Delores and Melvin during their stays at The Manor, Lakewood Care Center and Hospice in addition to Church of Christ in Staples (Pastor Barry). Melvin and Delores were surrounded by caregivers and friends whom seemed more like family. In remembrance of Delores and Melvin, family prefers donations to Lakewood Foundation: Aging Gracefully-Hospice or Lakewood Manor to Honor the Support and Care, https://www.lakewoodhealthsystem.com/about-us/foundation/donate/.
