Lyder Quade Jr.

GORMAN, Texas — Lyder Quade Jr., 78, of Gorman, Texas, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. A memorial service for him will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn.

Lyder was born in Des Plaines, Ill., to Lyder and Ella (Mekosch) Quade on Dec. 20, 1942, the third child of ten. Lyder graduated high school in 1961 from Sherburn, Minn. In the winter of 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served till 1970. While stationed in training school, he met the love of his life Nancy Jeanette Lancaster. They married on June 1, 1963. Together for 57 years of marriage, they traveled and lived in many places across the country. During his military service, he served in the Philippines, Germany, and San Antonio, Texas. Lyder graduated from San Angelo University in 1973 with a dual major in accounting and business management. He was offered an accounting position with Mobil Oil Company shortly after graduation and retired in 1997. After retiring, he kept himself busy farming and ranching. His favorite past time was reading, fishing, and spending time with family. Lyder was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville. He served many years within the church as a Sunday school teacher, board member, elder, church treasurer, and his most passionate church choir tenor. He walked with God often in life by surviving cancer in 1999 and a triple bypass in 2004. Lyder is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Lyder John Quade of Gorman, Texas, Lester (Rhett) Quade and wife, Stephanie of Mansfield, Texas, Lynda Lowinski and husband, Eric of Lawton, Okla.; grandchildren, Bethany Quade Hudgins and husband Nathan, Emma Quade, Jonathan Lowinski; step-grandchildren, Kimberly Donahue and husband Bill, Vicki Fowler and husband Eric, Preston and Regan Gillis; siblings, Roger Quade and wife Nadine, Shirley Kosbab, Marie Shumski, Marcella Shumski, Webb Quade and wife Dar, Bob Quade and wife Bea, Vi Tilk and husband Randy, and Dawn Kot and husband Jeff; brother-in-law, Dave Worden; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Lyder was preceded in death by his sister, Shari Worden; daughter-in-law, Janice Quade; granddaughter, Erica Lowinski; sister-in-law, Carol Quade; brothers-in-law, Kenny Kosbab, Roger Shumski and Leo Shumski.
