Leonora Mae Butler

NORTH MANKATO — Leonora Mae Butler, age 92, of North Mankato, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato. Graveside services will be held today, Feb 23, 2021, at Basey Cemetery, rural Winnebago. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com.

Leonora was born July 18, 1928, on her grandpa Fletcher’s farm in rural Huntley, the daughter of Marland and Alice (Fletcher) Wright. She was baptized in 1939 at the Presbyterian Church in Winnebago. Leonora graduated from Winnebago High School in 1946 and from the Minnesota School of Business in 1947. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Winnebago Co-op Creamery and as a secretary at Shelby Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. She married John “Jack” Butler on Feb. 11, 1951, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago. She was a member of the Basey First Methodist Church in rural Winnebago, the Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, the Basey UMW, and a member of the Eastern Star.

Leonora is survived by her son, Michael (Debra) Butler of Winnebago, and their children, Eugene (Abby) Butler and Clinton (special friend, Kelly McDermott) Butler; daughter, Vicki (Kevin) Grant of Mankato, and their children, Laurie (Gabriel) da Silveira, Jennifer (Joshua) Malwitz, and James (Allison) Grant; daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Wikre of Windsor, Colo., and their children, Trevor (Traci) Wikre, Jared (Danielle) Wikre and Danielle (Matthew) Allen; great-grandchildren, Dizel, Adley, and Brantley Butler, Lua da Silveira, Kepler and Finnley Malwitz, Palmer and Edward Grant, Jack Wikre and Taiya Allen; and many nieces and nephews. Leonora was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Butler; parents; sister, Mary Carson; sister-in-law, Merva (Eisenmenger) Dobie; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Carson, Mert Dobie, and George Eisenmenger.
